this is my reference for the whole pose; so I think, speaking from an anatomical view, the legs are fine as is? From what I can see in the screenshots I linked you; this rogue has green eyes, I'm also sure I wrote that on the minor characters page. I think the patches could stand to be less blurred than what you have; if you have to blur sections, use a very small brush to just touch the edges. Since you seem to be having problems with the shading, I recommend placing the shading here roughly. I used a 2-3 pixel airbrush and just gently swept around. From there, you can blur or smudge it with a very small brush. If you use a larger brush to blur, you risk blurring the shading away. Vec I am Iron Man! 👾 02:33, September 8, 2020 (UTC)

He's missing texture. The earpink I feel could be lightened a tad to match the deputy too. He's also missing his lighter gray belly/chest/muzzle. The shading could also be smoothed out a bit too. There should be a lighter patch on the tail tip, yes. I think the texture could be defined a small bit too. By "his left eye", I meant from Fang's left. The other eye was fine, but the left one still looks odd. The patch on his tail I feel should curve some more too, like the deputy's (I can give a redline if you'd like). I also don't know if this happens to be the blank/shading placement, but his gray belly looks a bit off? Could just be me.

To clarify about the shading, it appears that whatever color of shading you're using has obstructed the stripes/almost the same hue as the golden base color. I recommend using a much darker color for the shading (the most typical color is black, especially for beginners) and lowering the shading layer's opacity. Try looking at some of my shading layers here, here, and here. Shading should only cover half of the body/appendages while still showing the, pattern underneath. I think the over all image looks darker than the colors shown in the manga. I suggest colorpicking from that image to have it match as close as possible. I think the shading depth could be defined a bit as well. What program are you using? I'm going to go over shading real quick so you can use this as reference. First thing I do is make a new layer once the base colors and pattern is done. I use the paintbrush tool on 2px to place the shading; https://vvcap.com/1VWOiQyNm. Once that's finished, lower the layer's opacity; https://vvcap.com/uWXBUQQyq. Then I use the smudge tool and go over the edges, set to a fairly large size, which I can't exactly remember since I often change it depending on the area I'm working in, but I would say roughly around 10-15px; https://vvcap.com/tmIt2rwkj. I figure FireAlpaca should have a smudge tool similar to GIMP that you could use. Sometimes the shading can appear a little flat so you may need to add depth, which you just repeat the first shading process on another layer in a smaller area, if that makes sense.
The color you're using for the shading right now seems to be blending in too much with the stripes. I recommend using shading tinted with red, that always goes well with gold and ginger, in my opinion. I use firealpaca (sorry I've been working these past few days rip). I recommend placing the shading here. I would then use a small smudge or blur brush (no bigger than 4 or 5 at a 18% opacity like so; firealpaca is very finicky with the smudge tool). Like Patch said, go over the edges slightly to smudge the shading while still retaining its shape. Those are also the brushes and sizes that I typically use for chararts, but they change depending on the blank. For layers, you can change the opacity of a layer, such as for shading where it says "opacity". You can also switch the blending to "multiply" which makes the layer darker and slightly opaque. I also typically do that for shading layers. In addition, there is waste surrounding the image and the white of the eye needs to be filled in.

unfortunately your colouring of the blank has bled over onto the lineart. does the program you're using have layers? ideally you should be doing your colouring on a separate layer under the lining :00 other than that, you seem to be using cell shading - the shading should be much more subtle. blurring would be good but anything works! —autumn xmas bells are ringing! 12:27, September 13, 2020 (UTC)
