Alder (Kit) ~ For Approval

Alder.kitIsn't she the cutest little thing? I know I'm not actually part of the project, so if there's anything wrong with how I reserved her (I put my name in the table and followed its format) please notify me and I will withdraw her. Emberpoppy7 (talk) 23:11, November 5, 2013 (UTC)

Brighten the white a bit? Very nice! -Rustle it takes a leap of faith3:09 Wed Nov 6 2013

Smooth out the shading, it looks a bit blotchy ~Scarletwind"Time to go home Flap." 04:58, November 6, 2013 (UTC)

Reuploaded That's as bright as the white can get, and Scarletwind, are you talking about the shading on her left front paw? There's a patch of gray there that makes it look blotchy, I can remove it if you want, though. Emberpoppy7 (talk) 13:31, November 6, 2013 (UTC)

There is a square-patch of somesort that needs to be blurred/smudged. Here: [1] Yes, I circled it due to the fact that I can't explain for crap. Not because I'm getting up in your face. ;) It looks amazing, Ember. Keep it up!  Frosty ☾Supernatural 03:55, November 7, 2013 (UTC)

That area looks fine to me, Dark???? This is actually really cute omg. Maybe define the shading in general? Jayce(07:23, 11/7/2013)

No, I see what dark is getting at. You can't see it in the zoom version but its like a squareish shape cut out? I'm horrible at explaining but yeah can you smudge there? User:Kelpsey/Sig 10:03 Thu Nov 7

I still can't see what you're looking at. Maybe it's because of the eyelashes? It seems to disguise the area around it, and I still say it's fine. Jayce(12:26, 11/7/2013)

Here, I zoomed out, and screwed the eyelash for a better view: [2] Can you see the square now, Snowy? o.o  Frosty ☾Supernatural 12:40, November 7, 2013 (UTC)

Reuploaded Here if changes aren't showing. That was part of her white, but it did look weird so I extended the gray. I think the shading is fine, but if more people think I should define it then I will. Emberpoppy7 (talk) 13:32, November 7, 2013 (UTC)

Blue the shading on the legs, and define the neck shading - if you're using this light source. Queen Beebs 14:22, November 9, 2013 (UTC)

Lighten the shading on our left side of the image. It's darker than the rest of her body. --User:Brightpool/Sig 17:45, November 10, 2013 (UTC)

Darkness doesn't need to be the same throughout the entire image. ^^ Jayce(17:51, 11/10/2013)

Can you blur the ear pink more into her pelt? --User:Brightpool/Sig 01:48, November 11, 2013 (UTC)

Reuploaded Here for changes if Wikia is being a butt.

Ember, it'd probably be best if you didn't use Photobucket. It's not really a private hosting site like iaza or something. To my knowledge at least, you'd be publicly uploading it on there, which isn't allowed with wwiki blanks. Best to use some other hosting site that's private such as iaza. Paleh Send help 06:42,11/12/2013

All right. I didn't know it was against the rules. See here for changes. Emberpoppy7 (talk) 01:48, November 13, 2013 (UTC)

Smooth out the dark patches of shading on her legs and <<< chest. Queen Beebs 23:27, November 18, 2013 (UTC)

Those aren't dark patches of shading, it's because of the grey that it looks dark. Emberpoppy7 (talk) 13:30, November 19, 2013 (UTC)

Either way, lighten them a touch and you're losing your earpink in this <-- ear ~Scarletwind"Time to go home Flap." 23:05, November 20, 2013 (UTC)

Sorry to interrupt, but please define the shading from the patches, and vice versa, on <<<< side still. I can barely tell what are patches, and what is shading. Queen Beebs 16:19, November 27, 2013 (UTC)

Reuploaded Here if changes aren't showing. I darkened the patches, does that help? Emberpoppy7 (talk) 21:40, November 27, 2013 (UTC)

Smudge the pelt into the ear-pink and give him a gray nose ~Scarletwind"Time to go home Flap." 04:58, November 6, 2013 (UTC)

Re-uploaded I ended up having to redo the whole image...if there is a way to make a gray and white cat black and white without redoing the image, please tell me. This took up so much of my time. *.* --Derpberry 20:28, November 6, 2013 (UTC)

The shading on the white is very gray. Also, define the unshaded parts more. Also, can you make the pattern a bit more realistic, like this maybe? I like those eyes. ;) ☽➸ Hawky Void Shadowshot23:00 Wed Nov 6

Re-uploaded 'Kay, for some reason, the wiki won't let me upload this image, so I brought a link with me. Thanks Hawk for the picture, it helped. Changes are [3].

To be perfectly honest, the pattern was more realistic before... I think that pattern was just fine. Paleh Send help 00:17,11/7/2013

I think this one is more realistic, just overblurred. Maybe try smudging it instead of blurring it so much? ☽➸ Hawky Void Shadowshot0:35 Thu Nov 7

Hmmm..Maybe try to aim for it to look like this? [4] I did a quick version of what I'd do..maybe you can get some tips and pointers from this. ;)  Frosty ☾Supernatural 04:18, November 7, 2013 (UTC)

Dark, I do apologize, but that's not very natural either, and I'm going to agree with Paleh, that the pattern before was more realistic. Perhaps try to go back to that one if possible? I liked it. *.* Jayce(05:10, 11/7/2013)

That's fine, Cloudy. It was only a 30 second job..xD  Frosty ☾Supernatural 21:49, November 7, 2013 (UTC)

Yeah, I kind of liked the pattern before. I switched back. ouo --Derpberry 22:08, November 7, 2013 (UTC)

Re-uploaded Okay, I kind of blurred the ear pink because I thought it looked...odd. --Derpberry 22:09, November 7, 2013 (UTC)

The earpink is leaking out of the ear. Also, can you sharpen the black patches, as they seem overblurred? ☽➸ Hawky Void Shadowshot1:00 Fri Nov 8

Re-uploaded I switched back to the originals, so there aren't any black patches anymore. Blurred ear pink, though. --Derpberry 01:45, November 8, 2013 (UTC)

'Kay, I'm sorry to say this, but I'm going on a trip to China to see my relatives for two weeks, which means I don't get to finish this image in time. I just found out about the Internet connection there and let me say...it's not to hot. So, can someone please take over. Uploaded. Bahh, I guess it's okay. ._. I thought about texturing the white for some time while making, but then decided it wouldn't look good..soo, Comment away my friends! And may they be good. c:  Frosty ☾Supernatural 02:48, November 9, 2013 (UTC)

Please don't align your images. Also the pattern isn't very realistic, maybe something like this, or even this would work. Also define the shading, earpink and nosepink, I'm having a bit of trouble seeing them. --User:Wildd Side/Sig 02:54 Sat Nov 9

Also, maybe smudging instead of blurring would work. ☽➸ Hawky Void Shadowshot3:35 Sat Nov 9

Define the shading. ☽➸ Hawky Void Shadowshot20:21 Sat Nov 9

I don't really know how to put this in better words, but something about the black patches seems to be throwing me off. Maybe define them, or...I don't really know. Just saying. --User:Brightpool/Sig 17:32, November 10, 2013 (UTC)

I can't exactly see the ear pink. Maybe darken it? --User:Brightpool/Sig 01:50, November 11, 2013 (UTC)

You can see the earpink just fine? o.o It's practically whacking people in the face, imo. And if I darken it, I'll have to lighten it. So, it's fine. As for the pattern, it's from an actual black-and-white cat, so I won't change it.. And, they are defined enough, and if I define them anymore, it'll make this image look slightly over-defined, and possibly pixelated. But yeah, Hawky, I'll define that shading. c: But, thanks for your comments, Brightpool, and please recognize that I'm not brushing them off, but, because what you have mentioned, are in perfect shape and form, I will not change unless someone else points it out/agrees to your comments. Hope that made sense! I re-upload tonight.  Frosty ☾Supernatural 17:57, November 11, 2013 (UTC)

I'm actually going to agree with Brightpool on this one. I think the black is a teeny bit too dark (and coming from me, that's saying something since I love black and white cats), and they seem a little too overblurred. The earpink could also be a little more pink-ish, imho, but not all that more. I think the pattern itself is good, however. Jayce(18:06, 11/11/2013)

Re-uploaded. Thanks. I hope this fixed the problems..  Frosty ☾Supernatural 20:13, November 11, 2013 (UTC)

Please leave a image-hosting link of the image. I honestly have no clue what version I'm looking at User:Kelpsey/Sig 20:20 Mon Nov 11

The black patch on the tail is gray on the bottom. --User:Brightpool/Sig 21:26, November 11, 2013 (UTC)

Whoops! Sorry~ [6] And as for the gray, that's the tail shading.  Frosty ☾Supernatural 22:05, November 11, 2013 (UTC)

Then if that's the tail shading for the black patch, shouldn't it be darker, because gray is lighter than black...sorry if a sound like a pain in the butt, but I just noticed it right now. --User:Brightpool/Sig 23:34, November 11, 2013 (UTC)

Haha, you're not a pain! c; But, the reason I won't make it a darker gray, is because you may not be able to see the shading. And then, I'll have to revert it back to this current version. But, if someone else agrees with you, I'll change it. :)  Frosty ☾Supernatural 00:06, November 12, 2013 (UTC)

Blur the shading quite a fair bit. Also, lighten the black a bit and darken the shading on the black only. Also, what's up with the tail, and why is there a lighter gray stripe on it? If that's shading, it should be darker, not lighter? I'm confused as to what's part of the pattern on the tail and what's shading and/or highlights. Jayce(17:09, 11/12/2013)

Re-uploaded. I re-did parts of the image, so the black was less intense so you could see the shading. Zipped the stupid pale stripe on the tail, which originally was a stupid-attempt-at-shading-black. :P I tried to make the black not look over smudged/blurred. But hey, it never looks good to me. At least you can see the shading now, and I'd prefer not to touch it anymore. So yeah. [7]  Frosty ☾Supernatural 00:19, November 15, 2013 (UTC)

sorry for making you touch the shading ;cThe shading on either sides of the belly/back (yes, that whole mid-section area) are very "streaky" (for lack of better word) and need generous expansion, blurring, and lightening (they are very dark/gray). Also, the patches are extremely blurry in some areas, and not blurred in others. If you want, hit me and email and I'll be more than happy to help you with tinting so you can not have to worry about the shading looking gray, but promice me you will use it.. .-. User:Kelpsey/Sig 03:06 Fri Nov 15

Lol, sure I promise. Hit me an email, because believe me, I could really use some tips and pointers. Black-'n'-white cats are beginning to be the death of me. xD Even though, they're one of my personal favorites.  Frosty ☾Supernatural 03:42, November 15, 2013 (UTC)

The shading on the white needs to be thickened and blurred ~Scarletwind"Time to go home Flap." 23:04, November 20, 2013 (UTC)

Re-uploaded. Now, I'd prefer not to touch the shading anymore. I like the darkness of it right now, and don't really want to change it, as shading darkness is artists choice. Any more comments on the black-'n'-white kitteh? xD  Frosty ☾Supernatural 02:52, November 22, 2013 (UTC)

Honestly, the shading on both sides of the belly need tons of blurring and expanding. Also, why is it smudged? O.o Either smudge the rest to match of blur it out- it needs blurring anyways, so... User:Kelpsey/Sig 06:27 Sat Nov 23

For shading placement to clear up source issues, I recommend this as a guide, not so far off of your current shading placement. Also, make the white go all the way up the front legs, as the hind legs are fine. Coming along well, Frosty! ☽➸ Hawky Void Shadowshot16:10 Sat Nov 9

Re-uploaded. Thanks, Hawky!! c: I have all the Clovertail files, so when I search Clovertail, I see my image and the rest of her collection. I think mine matches pretty well. See here: [9] if wiki is acting up still.  Frosty ☾Supernatural 19:51, November 11, 2013 (UTC)

Thicken the shading and darken it on her body. Jayce(19:53, 11/11/2013)

The white on her forelegs needs to be more higher up, to her belly, and the belly white needs to go up a bit more on her chest. Queen Beebs 20:46, November 11, 2013 (UTC)

Please don't tell me you're looking at the wiki image, Beebs..look at the ezimba one, please. If you're not already. c;. But, I'm following how far the white goes up on the other images, and where it is currently, is where the other images' white stops. So I'd rather not change it. And Cloudy, if I darken the shading more, I'll just be told again that the white is gray, the shading over-defined, and the list goes on. Unless, there are certain parts of the shading you'd like to specify..then I'll see what I can do.  Frosty ☾Supernatural 20:56, November 11, 2013 (UTC)

Whoops, I was. Well, could you define where the white meets the brown on the chest and shoulders? They seem a bit overblurred. Queen Beebs 21:01, November 11, 2013 (UTC)

Could you blur that little strip of shading on her shoulder to make it blend more? Also, could you maybe try to connect the back leg shading (the brown part, not the white) to the back shading? It looks awkward just by cutting it off right there. It's either that or you could blur it more. Mistypebble 21:19, November 11, 2013 (UTC)

Re-uploaded. [10]  Frosty ☾Supernatural 23:42, November 11, 2013 (UTC)

The shading still should be thickened and darkened on the brown. Why not try shading the white and brown with two different layers? Als, thicken the shoulder shading. I'm also not sure what color you're using to shade, but with how it is, it's starting to change the coloring (especially along the back), and it doesn't seem to match in certain spots. In the case of this shade of brown, try using a darker brown or something along those lines. Never use black- it looks green when you do that. Trust me, I've done it more than enough times. x.x Jayce(17:20, 11/12/2013)

On that note for the shading tint, when I did the alt queen, I used a darker variation of the base pelt color, on around about 50-60% on multiply, try that. --User:Wildd Side/Sig 08:55 Wed Nov 13

It curves...If I change it anymore, it won't look like Clovertail anymore..  Frosty ☾Supernatural 21:23, November 24, 2013 (UTC)

Sorry, I disagree. What we mean is it needs to follow the contours of the cat's body, making it seem 3D. For example, it should get higher up the left side of the belly and lower as it goes toward the left of the image, go high>>low on the shoulder closest to us, and kind of slope in a curve. I'm terrible at explanations, and I'm out of town right now so if someone is willing to explain my point and/or make a guide then so be it. And yes, it will match. If you fix it up right, it should have the same colors as well as blurring as it does currently. User:Kelpsey/Sig 05:20 Mon Nov 25

I did. :/ The light source is just fine. It all works and makes sense. I took away the light on the back leg, like you asked. And if I moved the front leg one, it wouldn't make sense.  Frosty ☾Supernatural 01:15, December 2, 2013 (UTC)

I don't think that was the back leg she was talking about. Try moving the other one. Jayce(01:19, 12/2/2013)

If you're talking about the front leg closest to us, then the shading is on both side of it,, because that's the light source. But if you only want shading on the one side, I'll do that.  Frosty ☾Supernatural 18:02, December 2, 2013 (UTC)

It needs to just be along the back half of her leg, because the hind leg closest to us and the foreleg farthest from us suggest that, along with most of the body. the hind leg farthest from us also needs to have shading along the back. (The back would be our left side) Also remove the strip of shading along our left half of the belly, right along the lineart, and sharpen the facial shading a bit. Make the tint of the shading more creamy, because it looks as if you're using either black or blue, and it's kind of creating a disharmony between the main fur color and shading. Iveh Yo! 20:28, November 10, 2013 (UTC)

Define the shading, whether you darken it or sharpen it or do a combination of both- I can't tell where it is on the face, the legs, or where it's coming from anywhere save for her tail. If you choose to darken it, which is a good route, try sharpening the edges, as well. It only looks too gray once darkened if your shading is overblurred. Rainlegs 05:01, November 20, 2013 (UTC)

If it's coming from the left than the left side of her belly that we can see wouldn't be in shadow, and there would be a little heavier shading on the right half. I think the darkness is fine on the gray, but on the stripes it's much too light, to the point where it blends with the pelt color. Also, I can't see a source. User:Kelpsey/Sig 00:43 Sat Nov 30

I disagree. I can't even see the shading. o.O And it's not my monitor because I just checked on multiple settings and I still can't see the shading on here... They do appear smudged, though? At least to me they do... I think it just looks different because Breezey and David style their images differently, and completely matching another user's style is complicated and they're also two different sides of an image... Jayce(08:39, 11/30/2013)

All that I see, is that the gray was smudged slightly into the white to give it that furry effect on the body. I just don't see that effect on the tail-tip. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that all colors are from her queen image, which Raven just recently did. I don't think you can really define it anymore since you only have three or four pixels of eyecolor area to start with. Although could you lighten the white a teeny bit if you don't mind? The mottles will have to go, as she has /no/ cite for them. Jayce(19:19, 11/30/2013)

Reuploaded I think the color should be good now. I don't want to lose that dusty hue so I'd prefer to keep them as-is. And though I removed the tail mottles, I did take it from a reference image. User:Kelpsey/Sig 09:28 Sun Dec 1

Define the earpink a bit? Wonderful job!Sorrel It's everything I dreamed 15:08, December 1, 2013 (UTC)

I still can't tell what are stripes and what aren't... please try and differentiate between the two, and it's not my monitor, because it's been on multiple settings and I still can't tell them apart. Also it doesn't matter if it's from a reference image; if she has no cite for them, she doesn't get them. Jayce(18:14, 12/1/2013)

Well umm what do you want me to do about it User:Kelpsey/Sig 20:09 Sun Dec 1

Well, perhaps make it so the stripes can be told apart from the base? I mean, it also doesn't seem like there are any stripes on the belly at all, but instead just random streaks of brown? And the base seems far too dark, and she looks almost black and brown. Perhaps try changing things around a bit? I'm sorry but I really cannot tell what's part of the base and what's the stripes? I can't see if the brown is the base and the "blackish" color are the stripes or vise-versa? Jayce(20:23, 12/1/2013)

Reuploaded. I'm not going any lighter than this. User:Kelpsey/Sig 20:28 Sun Dec 1

The base still looks a bit too dark. Maybe thin out the stripes a touch and lighten the shading, or lighten the base and stripe color just a touch more. Rainlegs 20:41, December 1, 2013 (UTC)

Reuploaded. I was /not/ willing to lighten the base pelt and I forgot how I did those stripes so I screwed around a little bit and deleted 2 of my shading layers and added highlights. This isn't even dusty any more imho but whatever User:Kelpsey/Sig 02:03 Tue Dec 3

Dusty brown is a light-colored gray-brown. I think to make it look more dusty you'll need to lighten and desaturate the colors of the stripes a bit more, for their dark, bold color, (and the sheer amount of her pelt they take up) are taking away from that dusty color you just described being unable to see. Rainlegs 03:36, December 3, 2013 (UTC)

Reuploaded. Ok there we go. Thanks so much Legs User:Kelpsey/Sig 07:15 Tue Dec 3

Okay really stupid question. Are the stripes darker or lighter in this case? I'm sorry, I know I sound stupid, but I'd kinda like to know so I don't critique the wrong thing. Like, the only thing that even makes me question this is the belly/back areas? Especially along the upper back, there doesn't appear to be any stripes? Unless the darker color are the stripes, which if it is, completely disregard me... I seriously can't tell, I apologize. x.x Jayce(10:23, 12/3/2013)

They're the darker color... And as for the back, (this isn't my reference image) large stripe-colored patches do exist on some marble tabbies. User:Kelpsey/Sig 00:09 Wed Dec 4

I think the stripes need to be lightened a bit more, as I believe when she was described as dusty-brown, the erins meant for her stripes, as well. They look too dark to be dusty still. (And for future reference, those aren't patches, those are still stripes. Very thick, clumped stripes.) Rainlegs 00:02, December 5, 2013 (UTC)
