The Warriors series features groups of spiritual cats called "Clans" living in the wild, following the warrior code, and honoring their ancestors.
Warriors is a series of several books, organized into multiple arcs, featuring the adventures of feral cats living in self-supporting groups called Clans in the forest—ThunderClan, ShadowClan, RiverClan, and WindClan. Later the fifth Clan, SkyClan, is introduced. The Clan cats mark their borders, defend their land from enemy Clans, adhere to the warrior code—a set of rules each Clan cat must follow—and train their young to survive in the forest. The believe the spirits of their dead reside in StarClan, who send prophecies and signs to guide their living descendants. Each series follows one to four point of view characters as they struggle to grow up and survive the dangers that threaten them from all sides.
The series was first released in 2003 and is created by Working Partners and Coolabi[1] and are published by HarperCollins[2] under the pen name Erin Hunter. Kate Cary[3] and Cherith Baldry[4] are the primary ghost writers, with Victoria Holmes formerly editing the overarching plot, and she,[5] Tui Sutherland,[6] and Clarissa Hutton[7] working on supplementary material. As of January 2019, over 40 million books have been sold[8] and the series has been translated into 27 languages.[9]The series is also a New York Times Bestseller, with The Silent Thaw and River notably recent books hitting that list.[10][11]
Main storyline
The Dawn of the Clans arc
- This is the fifth arc of Warriors. The series revolves around the time prior to and of the origin of the five Clans, and explains how they came to be. During this arc, several cats journey away from the mountains and into the forest in hopes of a more suitable home. Clear Sky, Gray Wing, and Thunder are the main protagonists. This arc also marked the beginning of the new editorial team[blog 1], and Vicky has stated on her Facebook page that she is not involved with Dawn of the Clans, aside from book one, The Sun Trail.[12] This arc also features bonus chapters exclusive to Barnes and Noble Warriors books.

The original Dawn of the Clans covers, originally released from 2013 to 2015.
The Sun Trail
- "We trust the Teller of the Pointed Stones to know where our future lies. We will follow the path of the rising sun, but we will always carry the mountains, and all of you, in our hearts."
- ―Shaded Moss The Sun Trail, page 38
Thunder Rising
- "You will make things right. When the time comes, I know you will..."
- ―Storm to Thunder Thunder Rising, page 4
The First Battle
- "Who would I have helped? This battle was not mine. Why did you leave the mountains? Did you need something to fight over so badly? Before you came, we hunted and slept and lay in the sun. We fought over prey, but no cat ever killed another. You brought death here."
- ―River Ripple to Clear Sky The First Battle, page 275

- ―Spottedleaf to Bluestar about StarClan's prophecy Into the Wild, page 5

The original The Prophecies Begin covers, originally released from 2003 to 2004.
Into the Wild
- "Understand that Bluestar does not make this offer lightly. If you wish you train with us, we will take you to our Clan. You must either live with us and respect our ways, or return to your Twolegplace and never come back. You cannot live with a paw in each world."
- ―Lionheart to Rusty Into the Wild, page 22
Fire and Ice
- «Fireheart trembled as a memory burst into his mind of the words that Spottedleaf, the former ThunderClan medicine cat, had said to him before her untimely death. "Fire will save the Clan!" Could it be something to do with the strange cats that showed no fear of fire?»
- —Fireheart about WindClan Fire and Ice, page 10
- Deep in the heart of the forest four Clans of warrior cats coexist in uneasy harmony—but uncertain times are upon them, and dangers threaten the precarious balance of the forest. Fireheart is a ThunderClan warrior now, but his troubles are far from over. The cats of rival RiverClan grow restless, while WindClan is weak and faces threats from all sides. Now Fireheart faces not only imminent battle, but betrayal from within his own Clan.[21]
Forest of Secrets
- «There was a deeply buried mystery surrounding these cats, and he was beginning to feel that it might be beyond his power to ever understand it.»
- —Fireheart about Bluestar, Stonefur, and Mistyfoot Forest of Secrets, page 88
- Allegiances are shifting among the Clans of warrior cats that roam the forest. With tensions so delicately balanced, friends can become enemies overnight, and some cats are willing to kill to get what they want. Fireheart is determined to find out the truth about the mysterious death of the former ThunderClan deputy Redtail. But as he searches for answers, he uncovers secrets that might be better-left hidden...[22]

The reprinted covers of The Prophecies Begin, released in 2015.
Rising Storm
- «It looked as if Bluestar didn't trust any of her warriors except him and maybe Whitestorm. Fireheart realized that Tigerclaw had done more damage than any of the Clan could possibly imagine. The dark warrior had poisoned their leader's judgment and drained away all her confidence in her warriors.»
- —Fireheart about Bluestar Rising Storm, page 61
- Fireheart's traitorous enemy Tigerclaw has been vanquished and exiled from ThunderClan—but Fireheart can't shake the feeling that he is lurking in the forest, waiting for a chance to strike. In the heat of a blazing summer, Fireheart struggles to handle sinister omens, an apprentice with a shocking secret, and a devastating Clan leader who is a shell of her former shell. And as the forest gets hotter and hotter, every cat braces for the coming storm...[23]
A Dangerous Path
- "What is the point? StarClan has decreed that death will come. A dark force walks this forest, and even StarClan themselves cannot control it. Or will not. There is nothing we can do."
- ―Bluestar A Dangerous Path, page 178
The Darkest Hour
- «Sooner or later, Fireheart now knew, he would have to come face-to-face with Tigerstar in a final confrontation that only one of them could survive. He prayed to StarClan that when the time came he would have the courage and strength to rid the forest of this bloodthirsty cat.»
- —Fireheart's thoughts about Tigerstar The Darkest Hour, page 29
- The time has come for Fireheart—now Firestar, leader of ThunderClan—to face his destiny. Tigerstar's sinister ambitions have through the whole forest to the brink of a terrible and deadly battle. Now prophecies will unfold, and heroes will rise...[25]
The New Prophecy arc
- "Darkness, air, water, and sky will come together and shake the forest to its roots. Nothing will be as it is now, nor as it has been before."
- ―Bluestar Midnight (book), page 1

The original The New Prophecy covers, originally released from 2005 to 2006.
Midnight
- «There was only one solution. He must leave on the journey with only the word of StarClan to guide him, and not come back until he had discovered answers that would prove to Firestar how loyal he had been all along. Or else he would not come back at all.»
- —Brambleclaw Midnight (book), page 134
- The wild cats of the forest have lived in peace and harmony for many moons—but now, strange messages from their warrior ancestors speak of terrifying new prophecies and a mysterious danger. Brambleclaw, a warrior of ThunderClan, may be the cat with the fate of the forest in his paws. Now he will need all the courage and strength of the greatest warriors to save the Clans.[27]
Moonrise
- «The rest of the cats said their own good-byes, and began to follow Brambleclaw out onto the moor. Stormfur brought up the rear. Glancing back, he saw Midnight and Purdy sitting side by side under the outlying trees, watching them go. It was impossible to read their expressions in the gathering dusk. Stormfur waved his tail in a last farewell, and turned his face toward the mountains.»
- —Stormfur Moonrise, page 41
- Moons have passed since six cats set out on a journey to save their Clans. Now they are traveling home again, but on their way through the mountains, they meet a tribe of wild cats with a secret...and their own mysterious prophecy to fulfill. In the forest, Firestar and Leafpaw watch ThunderClan's world crumbling around them. Will the questing cats make it back in time to save the Clans, or will they be too late?[28]
Dawn
- «Squirrelpaw was beginning to think it might have been easier to keep traveling, to journey forever through unfamiliar territory, rather than face the responsibility of having to tell the Clans that they would have to leave their homes or else face a terrible death. But there was still the sign of the dying warrior to come—they had to see this through.»
- —Squirrelpaw Dawn (book), page 15
- The young cats who set off on a quest many moons ago have returned with a chilling message: the Clans must move to a new home or risk extermination. But the dangers waiting for them beyond their borders are impossible to predict, and the cats have no idea where to go. What they need is a sign from StarClan...[29]

The reprinted covers of The New Prophecy, released in 2015.
Starlight
- "Before I go to StarClan, there is something I must do. Firestar, Onewhisker, listen. Mudclaw is a brave warrior, but he is not the right cat to lead WindClan. In these last moons we have learned that the future of our Clans lies in friendship. I want no rivalry between WindClan and ThunderClan after I am gone. We must have no enemies. But this will not happen if Mudclaw rules the Clan."
- ―Tallstar Starlight, page 117
Twilight
- "We cannot change our destiny. We just have to have the courage to know what it is, and accept it. StarClan is waiting for me. Good-bye, Leafpool."
- ―Cinderpelt Twilight, page 309
Sunset
- «All I want is to lead my Clan. But not like this. His loyalty was not to ThunderClan alone, but to Firestar too—the cat who had mentored him in spite of his father, and in the end had trusted him enough to make him Clan deputy. He had thought that loyalty to the Clan didn't necessarily mean loyalty to the Clan leader. That wasn't true. Firestar was ThunderClan.»
- —Brambleclaw Sunset, page 296
- As shadows of the past continue to plague the forest, Brambleclaw is haunted by a dark figure on a dangerous quest for revenge and must struggle to remain true to his Clan. A sinister path is unfolding and the time is coming for certain warriors to make the choices that will determine their destinies...and the destiny of all the Clans.[32]
The Power of Three arc
- "There will be three, kin of your kin, who hold the power of the stars in their paws."
- ―Skywatcher to Firestar The Sight, page 2

The original Power of Three covers, originally released from 2007 to 2009.
The Sight
- "Your gift is not a burden. But you must be brave, because it has more power than the sharpest claw..."
- ―Spottedleaf to Jaypaw The Sight, page 232
Dark River
- "Why was Leafpool so fond of secrets? Secrets about his gift, secrets about Mothwing and StarClan. He suspected there were even more secrets buried in his mentor's heart, secrets that she guarded so closely he had never been able to glimpse them. "Knowledge can be be dangerous," Leafpool warned. Frustration clawed at Jaypaw's belly. He lived his life in darkness; he longed for light and clarity, not shadows. He forced away his anger. Leafpool had lived too long with secrets. He couldn't change her mind in a single night. But why did she have to drag him into her complicated world?"
- ―Jaypaw Dark River, page 52
Outcast

Long Shadows

- ―Hollyleaf about Sol Long Shadows, page 199

- ―Yellowfang to Bluestar Sunrise (book), page 4
The Omen of the Stars arc
- "After the sharp-eyed jay and the roaring lion, peace will come on a dove's gentle wing."
- ―Yellowfang The Fourth Apprentice, page 65

The original Omen of the Stars covers, originally released from 2009 to 2012.
The Fourth Apprentice
- "I don't want to listen! I don't care about special powers, unless they can help me be a loyal warrior to ThunderClan. I don't want any part of any prophecy, especially one that's so vague you can't even be sure which cat it refers to!"
- ―Dovepaw The Fourth Apprentice, page 85
Fading Echoes
- "The Three have come at last. I will sleep a little easier from now on. Just be careful - your powers set you apart from other cats, but you are still members of this Clan. You are still bound by the warrior code, for as long as that stands. [...] ThunderClan is lucky that you have come. Let's not ask for the stars as well. Tell me if anything changes. You will have my full support."
- ―Firestar to the Three Fading Echoes, page 80
Night Whispers
- «Jayfeather shivered against the dread hollowing his belly. Clan cats, cats who lived beside the lake during their waking moments, surrounded him. He could feel their warm hearts beating, quickened by the lies of the dead. There was no hiding now from what was happening: Cats from every Clan were being trained by Dark Forest warriors to rise against their Clanmates, trained to break every part of the code the Clans had long fought to protect.»
- —Jayfeather Night Whispers, page 19
- The deadly battle with ShadowClan is over, and both Clans are suffering from the results. Ivypaw falls deeper into Tigerstar's trap, Littlecloud falls deathly ill, and Dovepaw discovers a forbidden friend. When each medicine cat receives an omen that their Clan must stand alone to face the danger, the threat of an upcoming battle is almost here, and friendships may be destroyed in the process.[41]

The reprinted covers of the Omen of the Stars, released in 2015.
Sign of the Moon
- "Destiny isn't a path that any cat follows blindly. It is always a matter of choice, and sometimes the heart speaks loudest. Deep down, I always knew what I had to do, and that's why I came back to the Clan. Whatever else happens, I trust you to know the right thing to do as well. Listen to your heart, Lionblaze, because that's where your true destiny lies."
- ―Leafpool advising Lionblaze Sign of the Moon, page 108
The Forgotten Warrior
- "This will not be the end of the Clans. As long as I have breath in my body, the Clans will be safe."
- ―Jayfeather vowing to protect the Clans The Forgotten Warrior, page 204
The Last Hope
- "The time has come to fight our greatest enemy. We can fight alone, or we can stand together. We're stronger side by side, as we were for the Great Journey. Uniting against the Dark Forest is our only hope."
- ―Firestar to the other Clan leaders The Last Hope, page 229
The A Vision of Shadows arc
- "Embrace what you find in the shadows, for only they can clear the sky."
- ―Firestar The Apprentice's Quest, page 18

The Apprentice's Quest
- "I think I speak for all of us when I tell you that we pledge ourselves to do whatever it takes to find SkyClan and complete the quest."
- ―Molewhisker to Alderpaw The Apprentice's Quest, page 191
Thunder and Shadow
- «Was that the last she'd see of her sister? Now that ShadowClan had turned rogue, could they ever meet again? She stumbled as her paws grew numb beneath her. Grief choked her. She and Violetpaw had chosen different Clans. Maybe their bond of kinship wasn't strong enough to survive their decision.»
- —Twigpaw Thunder and Shadow, page 367
- Nearly a moon has passed since Alderpaw returned from his journey to SkyClan's gorge, where he found the territory taken over by rogues. Now the same vicious cats that drove out SkyClan have traced Alderpaw's path back to the lake...and ShadowClan may be the next to fall.[46]
Shattered Sky
- "But before Violetpaw had taken more than a mouthful, Thistle bounded toward them. Violetpaw eyed him warily. She didn't know him very well, as he and some other rogues had only recently arrived. She couldn't help wondering how many more cats Darktail would welcome into camp as "Kin"."
- ―Violetpaw Shattered Sky, page 38
Darkest Night
- «All the prophecies StarClan had sent since he had become a medicine cat had told him to do one thing: bring the five Clans together to keep them strong. And now StarClan had gone to extraordinary measures to bring them this message—they must save ShadowClan. But ShadowClan couldn't survive without a savior, and if Rowanclaw wasn't up to the job, who would be?»
- —Alderheart Darkest Night, page 303
- SkyClan has returned to its rightful place among the other four warrior Clans, hoping to find a new territory to call home. But not every cat is convinced that this is where SkyClan belongs—and the fate of all five warrior Clans remains uncertain.[48]
River of Fire
- "And now...now that the five Clans are finally united once more, there will be new challenges. The sky has cleared at last, but the Clans must come together to make the forest grow."
- ―Cinderpelt to Alderheart River of Fire, page 259
The Raging Storm
- "If the Clans can't learn to live peacefully together, how will they face what is to come? Together, the Clans are like a paw with five claws reaching deep into the earth. If each claw is strong, the claw will hold fast. But if just one claw releases its grip, all will be swept away."
- ―Firestar to StarClan's leaders The Raging Storm, page 4
The Broken Code arc
- «His pelt began to prickle as he felt the heat of a fire burning close by, though he couldn't see it or hear the crackle of flames. Ash fluttered in the sky, swirling around him and settling in tiny gray flakes on his pelt.»
- —Shadowpaw's vision Lost Stars, page 53
- This seventh arc takes place six moons after A Vision of Shadows. During a harsh leaf-bare, the living Clans' connection with StarClan is unusually severed, and ThunderClan's leader Bramblestar is acting odd. This arc introduces three protagonists in different Clans, Shadowpaw from ShadowClan, Bristlefrost from ThunderClan, and Rootpaw from SkyClan. This arc also challenges the notion of forbidden relationships, which has been a staple in the series, and also reintroduces former main characters into the spotlight, such as Squirrelflight and Bramblestar. This series is also the first to not feature a prophecy given by StarClan in the beginning of the arc, though Shadowpaw receives many visions warning him of the future. Only the first book, Lost Stars, features a Barnes and Noble exclusive bonus scene. Similar with the previous arc, reading the Super Editions Squirrelflight's Hope and Graystripe's Vow will help readers understand the full story of this arc.

Lost Stars
- "There is no cat like you in all the five Clans, Shadowpaw. Now great events are coming, and the Clans will experience far-reaching changes. And you, young apprentice—you will have an important part to play."
- ―Unidentified StarClan spirit Lost Stars, page 2
The Silent Thaw
- "I'm glad I'm no longer the only cat who sees that StarClan won't return until the codebreakers have atoned."
- ―Bramblestar's impostor The Silent Thaw, page 262
Veil of Shadows
- "That cat won't ruin my plans again...and neither will you."
- ―Bramblestar's impostor Veil of Shadows, page 168
Darkness Within
- "We are dealing with things we don't understand. And we would never forgive ourselves if we made the wrong decision."
- ―Leafstar about consulting the Sisters Darkness Within, page 106
The Place of No Stars
- "Your luck is going to run out if you go on tempting fate like this."
- ―Tigerstar to his son Shadowsight The Place of No Stars (book), page 241
A Light in the Mist
- "I don't deserve a place in StarClan. I never will. But I owe them, and the living Clans, something."
- ―Silverhawk A Light in the Mist (book), page 205
The A Starless Clan arc
- This eighth arc takes place three moons after The Broken Code. It continues the trend of having three protagonists in different Clans, but is the first to feature a RiverClan point of view with Frostpaw; Sunbeam of ShadowClan and Flamepaw of ThunderClan are the other protagonists. The Story Team wanted to hear from a young RiverClan member during "a moment of serious upheaval" when "major decisions could fall into the paws of an apprentice, who isn't at all sure she is ready for that level of responsibility."[57] This arc does not feature Barnes and Noble exclusive chapters, nor does it open with a prophecy from StarClan. The books feature an unique naming system with each book referring to one of the five Clans.

River
- "I don't blame you one bit for acting out like you did. That family—all of Tigerstar's kin think they can do whatever they like."
- ―Berryheart to her daughter Sunbeam River (book), page 198
Sky
- Disaster has struck at the heart of RiverClan, leaving its warriors and its new medicine cat apprentice scrambling to protect their Clan—even if it means lying to the others. But at a time when the warrior code itself is shifting, no Clan is truly at peace...or truly safe.[59]
Shadow
- In RiverClan, young medicine cat apprentice Frostpaw is desperate to guide her Clanmates down the right path—which isn't easy when Tigerstar seems to be watching their every move. Within ShadowClan and ThunderClan, rifts are opening between once-loyal Clanmates as the changes to the Code stretch tempers to the tipping point. As tensions heighten and old grudges take new hold, one wrong move could prove that peace among the Clans can never last for long.[60]
Super Editions
- Super Editions are longer, special volumes that explore specific times or characters of the Warriors timeline. They are part of the same plotline as the main books, but are not been released in chronological order. Occasionally, reading the corresponding Super Editions will aid readers in understanding the full story in certain arcs, such as A Vision of Shadows and The Broken Code. The Super Editions are written by Kate Cary[61] and Cherith Baldry[62] with Vicky outlining the stories. Vicky's last Super Edition was Bramblestar's Storm.[63]

[...] He will stray, and you must let him, even if you fear he will never return. It is the only way he will discover where he truly belongs."
- ―Mothflight to Heatherstar Tallstar's Revenge, page 5
Bramblestar's Storm
- "When water meets blood, blood will rise."
- ―Cloudstar to Firestar Bramblestar's Storm, page 6

Moth Flight's Vision was the eighth Super Edition and was first released in 2015. It was the first Super Edition to feature Owen Richardson's artwork on the cover.
Moth Flight's Vision
- «It felt strange enough to be so far from her Clan. As the sun rose and began to cross the wide, blue newleaf sky, she found herself slowing, unsure of her next paw steps. Graystripe's Vow
- «They won't be a Clan like ours. But they will care for one another. And that, at heart, is what a Clan is. If that's all I've accomplished on my wander, it's not bad. Not bad at all.»
- —Graystripe about WarriorClan Graystripe's Vow, page 407
- A Clan's future lies in a promise from the past. Graystripe served ThunderClan for many moons before retiring to the elders' den, and was Firestar's most trusted friend and deputy. He promised Firestar that he would never abandon his home. But as new tensions strain ThunderClan, Graystripe will need to call on all of his long history, leaving ThunderClan behind in hopes of finding an answer that might save it.[76] This Super Edition jumps between Graystripe's time as deputy during Firestar's Quest and his time as an elder in Darkness Within.

Fans were able to select the cover colors through a poll on the Warriors website.[78]

Novellas
- The novellas are short stories, usually only ten chapters long, about a specific character or moment in the series. The novellas originally were exclusive eBooks until they were released in paperback in packs of three books. They are not released in chronological order. Most of the novellas were written by Victoria Holmes[5] and Clarissa Hutton,[7] though Vicky retired after Legends of the Clans.[63] Cherith Baldry began to help with the novellas and she wrote Pebbleshine's Kits[80] and Daisy's Kin[81]. The last novella set was published in 2021.

Hollyleaf's Story was the first novella and was first released in 2012.

Warriors graphic novels
- The Warriors graphic novels, formerly called the mangas, are illustrated stories from the Warriors series. They are written by Dan Jolley,[96] and are illustrated by James Barry,[96] Bettina Kurkoski,[97] and Don Hudson.[98] The graphic novels were formerly printed in grayscale and divided into three issues. In 2017, Graystripe's Adventure was reprinted in full color with all three issues in one volume. The other arcs he illustrated, Ravenpaw's Path and SkyClan and the Stranger, were also later released in full color. Starting with A Shadow in RiverClan, the graphic novels were originally published in color.
Stand-alone graphic novels

The Rise of Scourge was the first stand-alone graphic novel and was released in 2008.
The Rise of Scourge
- "My littermates said I was too small...too weak. But I have proven them wrong. I've learned how to live for blood. Because that's the key. The only answer. I am leader of BloodClan. I am Scourge. And I have won!"
- ―Scourge The Rise of Scourge, page 82

A Shadow in RiverClan was the first graphic novel to be originally published in full-color and was released in 2020.
A Shadow in RiverClan
- "Home...Every cat knows where their home is, don't they? Or at least where they belong. Every cat...except me. This is RiverClan. It's supposed to be my home. But if you put claws to my throat and demanded I tell you where I belong? I couldn't give you an honest answer."
- ―Feathertail A Shadow in RiverClan, pages 1-4
Winds of Change
- "No need. Blackstar will back us once he understands which way the winds are blowing. He's always been a...practical cat. [...] Have faith, Mudclaw. My plan will make us both stronger. And once you've appointed me deputy, well...RiverClan will never see us coming."
- ―Hawkfrost to Mudclaw Winds of Change, pages 156-157
Exile from ShadowClan
- ShadowClan faces two paths. Only one will save its legacy. On the verge of a bitter leaf-bare, ShadowClan stands on the brink of its own destruction. Its leader, Brokenstar, is bent on nothing but battle and revenge. His former mentor, retired warrior Nightpelt, hasn't had an easy path, but he has always put his Clanmates first. So when Brokenstar banishes Nightpelt and the rest of ShadowClan's elders to the farthest edges of Clan territory, Nightpelt is shocked at his cruelty. But he's determined to ensure he and his fellow exiles survive the coming frost—and live to reclaim the ShadowClan they've always known.[102]
Graystripe's Adventure
- This arc follows what happened to Graystripe after he was captured by Twolegs in Dawn. The novels were originally printed in three separate volumes in gray-scaled before being released in one edition in full color in 2017. They were illustrated by James Barry.

Graystripe's Adventure, originally released in 2007.
The Lost Warrior

- ―Silverstream to Graystripe The Lost Warrior, page 76
Warrior's Refuge
- "My name is Graystripe. I'm a warrior of ThunderClan. I lived my whole life with my Clanmates in the forest until the Twolegs came. They captured me and made me live in a Twoleg nest. I didn't think I'd ever escape, or see my Clan again. I was lost. But then I met Millie, a kittypet who helped me. She saved my life. And now the two of us have set out to find ThunderClan. No matter how long it takes, or how far we have to go."
- ―Graystripe Warrior's Refuge, page 10
Warrior's Return
- "Yes, your home's gone. But that doesn't mean your Clan is! The warrior code is still out there. Still alive."
- ―Millie Warrior's Return, page 14
Tigerstar and Sasha
- These three books explore the relationship between the powerful leader Tigerstar and his rogue mate, Sasha, during A Dangerous Path. These books were drawn by Don Hudson. Unlike the other individual graphic novels, Tigerstar and Sasha has not been released in color.

Tigerstar and Sasha, released in 2008.
Into the Woods
- "A kittypet eats mush instead of fresh kill, and sleeps in Twoleg nests because they're too scared to live under the trees and open sky. A kittypet doesn't know about the warrior code, or what it means to fight for survival, to protect a Clan like a mother protecting her kits. A kittypet can't feed herself."
- ―Tigerstar to Sasha Into the Woods, page 40
Escape from the Forest
- «But even as Tigerstar haunts my thoughts, I realize that he no longer haunts my heart. I'm not afraid of him anymore. Plus, he was wrong about me. Dead wrong. I'm not nothing. I'm Sasha.»
- —Sasha Escape from the Forest, page 71
- Sasha has decided to forge a life outside of the Clans and away from Tigerstar's evil plans. But life as a rogue is much harder than she expects, and Sasha soon starts to lose hope. Will she be forced to wander alone forever, scrapping for every meal and fighting with the cruel, territorial cats who dwell in the alleys of Twolegplace?[107]
Return to the Clans
- "I am very proud of my children. They will make great warriors. And I will watch over them forever. I promise."
- ―Tigerstar about his children Return to the Clans, page 86
Ravenpaw's Path
- These graphic novels feature Ravenpaw and Barley before The New Prophecy. James Barry returned to illustrate these books, and he subsequentially became the primary artist for the Warriors graphic novels. These issues were later reprinted in color in one volume in 2018.

Ravenpaw's Path, originally released in 2009.
Shattered Peace
- "We have seen that you and Barley are in trouble. Listen to us. You have as much right to live on the farm as the Clans have to live in the forest. That is your home."
- ―Bluestar to Ravenpaw Shattered Peace, page 87
A Clan in Need
- «These rogues are vicious...but they're no warriors. And tonight—for one night—Barley and Violet and I are. Tonight, ThunderClan shows them what real warriors are made of!»
- —Ravenpaw A Clan in Need, page 76
- Ravenpaw and Barley have been driven away from their farm by a group of vicious cats. Now the two loners must turn to ThunderClan—led by Ravenpaw's friend Firestar—for shelter. Firestar takes them in and promises to help them take back their home as soon as possible, but ThunderClan is in great danger. BloodClan cats have been launching raids on ThunderClan's territory and attacking Clan patrols. Can Ravenpaw and Barley help Firestar and his Clan fight off their enemies? And will they ever be able to get home again?[110]
The Heart of a Warrior
- "This is my territory. I will defend it to the death."
- ―Ravenpaw declaring his loyalty to defending Barley's farm The Heart of a Warrior, page 60
SkyClan and the Stranger
- This graphic novel arc follows SkyClan and the experience they have with a new arrival. This arc takes place during The New Prophecy, and was also illustrated by James Barry. Similar with the previous graphic novels, these were later reprinted in color in 2019.

SkyClan and the Stranger, originally released in 2011.
The Rescue
- "You've united the Clan. It's still only a few seasons old and yet we're strong now. SkyClan's future looks secure at last."
- ―Billystorm to Leafstar The Rescue, page 15
Beyond the Code
- "We have to trust him. That's what being a Clanmate is all about."
- ―Leafstar about Sol
After the Flood
- "You'll only ever be as strong as your weakest kit or oldest elder!"
- ―Sol After the Flood, page 87
Field Guides
- The Field Guides do not have a storyline, but rather, act as references for the main series, offering facts and viewpoints not available in the normal plotline. However, with some of the earlier Field Guides, such as Secrets of the Clans and potentially Code of the Clans, some of its information has been retconned by Dawn of the Clans. These books were written by Tui Sutherland,[6] and Vicky Holmes,[115] with the last Field Guide being released in 2013.

Secrets of the Clans
- "The story of the beginning of the warrior Clans has been passed down by cats of all Clans, from elder to warrior, from warrior to apprentice, from queen to kit. The story is never the same twice, and parts grow uncertain, or they become suddenly clear in the telling. There are some cats who walk dimly, their names and deeds lost in the sweet fog of the elders' den, for the warrior Clans have roamed the forest for moons beyond counting..."
- ―Narrator on the Clans Secrets of the Clans, page 1
Cats of the Clans
- "There are so many cats, many more that you know about. You would be here a moon and more to hear them all. But I shall tell you about the ones I remember most clearly, and the ones I watch still. Oh, yes, I have watched them all, from as far back as any cat in the Clans remember, and farther. And not only the four Clans that live beside the lake now. Much as they might with to think they are the center of the world, there are other cats of equal worth-or more-far beyond their fragile borders."
- ―Rock Cats of the Clans, page 3
Code of the Clans
- "As you've heard, we are not always perfect, but we have a great deal of faith in our warrior ancestors. The code lives in our heartbeat, the blood pulsing beneath our fur. When we die, the code carries on in our kits, and their kits, for all the moons to come. StarClan willing, the code of the Clans will live forever, until the forest and the lake have turned to dust and our hunting grounds are no more."
- ―Leafpool concluding the reader's time with her Code of the Clans, page 156
Battles of the Clans
- "Battle is not always the answer, but it is a part of our heritage, the legacy passed to us by our warrior ancestors, as well as the path to our future. Some questions can only lead to conflict; all challenges deserve a brave, carefully planned response. As long as we fight with honor, courage and respect for our enemies, the legacy of battle deserves to survive. We will continue to pass on our skills to the new apprentices, then watch as they train the next generation. Heroes will be celebrated, the losing side condemned to dust in our memories. This is what it means to be a warrior: to be proud of our legacy, of the battles that we have fought and that our ancestors fought on our behalf."
- ―Onestar about the battles the Clans fight Battles of the Clans, page 159
