"Me too. I want to learn to hunt and fight for real! I want to live in the wild and catch my own prey and protect my Clanmates."
— Wasp about joining the Clans in Thunder, page 300

Wasp is a brown tom.[5]

History[]

In the A Starless Clan arc[]

Thunder[]

Marlow introduces Nightheart and Frostpaw to Wasp and Molly. Frostpaw joins Wasp, Waffle, Molly, and Nightheart in a game of "find the shell," and Wasp explains the game to Frostpaw. Nightheart later teaches Wasp and Waffle some fighting techniques while Frostpaw learns how to meditate. When the two Clan cats leave, Wasp and Waffle ask to join them. The four cats listen in on the Gathering, and Wasp is nervous when he hears talks of war.

Wind[]

"[Squirrelstar] isn't throwing me out. It was always agreed that we had to commit to ThunderClan or leave. And now I've decided that it's time for me to go home. I've loved being a guest in ThunderClan, but it was RiverClan I always dreamed of, and now... I know my heart is with the park and the cats there."
―Wasp to Wafflepaw about returning to the park Wind, page 262
At the Gathering, Wasp and Waffle ask what they should do since they are now reluctant to join RiverClan. Nightheart appeals to Squirrelstar, who allows them to stay with ThunderClan temporarily. As Frostpaw heads off with ShadowClan, the two park cats say their goodbyes to her. The next day, Squirrelstar welcomes them into the Clan, and they express uncertainty as to what to do long-term. She tells them that they must decide within a moon and, in a bid to make them want to join ThunderClan, Nightheart suggests that they learn ThunderClan's history. However, Wasp does not understand the stories that the warriors tell them, becoming nervous. Nightheart teaches Wasp and Waffle about Clan life, and they observe as he catches a squirrel, admiring his successful catch. Wasp asks why they thank StarClan for their prey, and Nightheart explains that they would starve without StarClan's blessing. He wonders if they can eat the squirrel without feeding the Clan, and Sunbeam says they can for this session.
When they return to camp, Nightheart takes them to hear the elders' stories, and Wasp expresses curiosity, asking questions about their tales. Squirrelstar later tells Nightheart that he will accompany her to speak with Frostpaw, and Wasp seems uneasy when Nightheart informs him and Waffle. While Waffle takes to ThunderClan life well, Wasp does not, longing for RiverClan instead. As Squirrelstar speaks with Tigerstar about Splashtail, Jayfeather, and Alderheart catch the park cats eavesdropping. They speak in defense of Frostpaw, and Squirrelstar dismisses them sharply. At the next Gathering, Squirrelstar asks the park cats for their decision, and Wasp says that he wishes to return home since he cannot join RiverClan, whereas Waffle soon receives his apprentice name, Wafflepaw.
Nightheart notices that Wasp is gone and he speaks with Wafflepaw, who reveals that Wasp has gone to RiverClan, sparking fears that Wasp could get hurt. Squirrelstar scolds Wafflepaw for keeping it secret, and she decides not to pursue him because it is too dangerous. Sneezecloud and Gorseclaw bring Wasp back injured, accusing him of trespassing. When they leave, Squirrelstar scolds Wasp, and he says that he now understands that he cannot be a warrior and belongs in the park. Alderheart supplies him with herbs, and Wasp expresses gratitude to ThunderClan before saying goodbye to Wafflepaw and Nightheart.
