"If wishes were prey, we'd eat like lions come leaf-bare. But we'd die of boredom! You know that's not what the life of the Clans is like. The warrior code guides us through the dark times, the cold and the hunger. And the good times seem all the sweeter for it. Have faith, Bluestar. We'll survive." |
— Whitestorm to Bluestar in Bluestar's Prophecy, page 513 |
Whitestorm is a snowy[11]-white tom[2] with yellow eyes.[7]
Whitestorm was a ThunderClan deputy under Firestar and also served under Bluestar's leadership in the forest territories. He was born as Whitekit to Snowfur and Thistleclaw, and shortly thereafter, his mother was killed by a monster. He was then fostered by Robinwing alongside Brindlekit and Frostkit; however, it was Bluefur who mainly took care of him. He was apprenticed as Whitepaw to Patchpelt and later earned his warrior name, Whitestorm. He fathered Brindleface's kits, Ashkit, Fernkit, Elderkit, and Tulipkit before later mentoring Sandstorm and Brightheart. He later became mates with Willowpelt and the two had three kits, Sorrelkit, Sootkit, and Rainkit. Despite blaming himself for Bluestar's death, Whitestorm was chosen as Firestar's first deputy, and fought in the battle against BloodClan; however, when he was killed by Bone, Whitestorm chose Graystripe as his successor, and ascended to StarClan.

The Prophecies Begin[]
- "Whitestorm was experienced, wise, and brave. When Firestar had been made deputy, he had shown not a scrap of the resentment that a lesser cat might have felt. He had supported him from the beginning, and he was the cat Firestar naturally turned to when he needed advice. He was old, yes, but still strong and active. There were a good few moons left before he would be joining the elders in their den."
- ―Firestar's thoughts about Whitestorm The Darkest Hour, page 75
- When Bluestar dies, Whitestorm in particular is devastated, blaming himself for not watching over his beloved aunt. Upon receiving his nine lives, Firestar appoints Whitestorm as the Clan deputy. Whitestorm is pleasantly surprised and humbly accepts the position. His former apprentice, Brightpaw, who gained the name of Lostface upon being scarred by dogs, is given the new warrior name of Brightheart, much to Whitestorm's content. However, the new deputy is killed in the battle against BloodClan by Bone. Before he passes, he tells Firestar that he wishes for Graystripe to succeed him as deputy, knowing that the gray tom was Firestar's best friend, before he succumbs to his wounds and dies. In an act of retaliation, Tawnypaw, Bramblepaw, Ashpaw, Featherpaw and Stormpaw kill Bone.
