The following information is from sources considered non-canon or retconned.
- In Secrets of the Clans, a 2007 field guide, Yellowfang speaks of her forbidden relationship with Raggedstar. She gives birth to his kits, two she-cats and one tom. One she-cat was born dead, and the other dies shortly after birth. She names her surviving kit Brokenkit. Yellowfang states every cat would think Brokenkit got his name from the bend in his tail, like a broken branch, but Yellowfang says she named him that because her heart broke when she had to give him up. She buries her two daughters and gives the tom to Lizardstripe. Yellowfang is worried about this because of Lizardstripe's ambitious nature. She then ends the story how she wishes Brokenkit was never born, and how she thought of Firestar as a son to her.[21]
- She is listed as one of ThunderClan's and ShadowClan's significant medicine cats.[22] She is described as an ornery dark gray she-cat with bright orange eyes, and a broad, flattened face. Yellowfang is a gifted healer, but could be bad-tempered and difficult. She helped rescue ThunderClan kits from ShadowClan and became ThunderClan's medicine cat after Spottedleaf was killed. It is said that she died as she lived, fighting to save her Clan.[23]
